Goals of the Eagle Mentor Program:
- Provide students a welcoming, friendly face on campus
- Assist students in feeling more connected to the people, campus, and Chadron community
- Educate and encourage students to use CSC and community resources
- Increase student engagement in co-curricular activities
- Increase retention from first to second year
Program Details
Eagle Mentors are CSC students who are at least a second semester freshman with a desire to make a positive impact on first-year students. Eagle Mentors are from a variety of majors, interests, and backgrounds, and support students by connecting with and referring them to campus and community resources.
The CSC Eagle Mentor program is one semester. Incoming students are matched with an Eagle Mentor according to their major, hometown, and interests via a matching form. The Mentor Meet & Greet during Move-In is an opportunity to meet up, exchange information, get to know other new students, and set expectations for the program. Eagle Mentors meet with their mentees to assist and encourage students by planning one-on-one and small group meetings throughout the semester. There will also be monthly events for everyone!
The Eagle Mentor program is not required for students, but highly recommended. Students who have a desire to make a positive impact on incoming Eagles are encouraged to apply!
